DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Patricia Culotti \n Prerequisite: Participation in Course One: TCF Adapted Program Basic Moves Training \nWPTA CEU-Approved for 12 Contact hours. \nCourse Description: Participants review Optional Side Support\, Walker Support and Seated Versions of all Basic Moves and TCF Short Form Part 1\, and learn all three versions of TCF Short Form Parts 2 and 3. Course includes Mind/body Skills training\, partner teaching practicums\, TCF applications for specific populations and training in sensing qi.The course includes program applications for wellness and rehab settings. \nA Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants who have attended both days and have demonstrated ability to teach program elements.   This course also qualifies as partial contact hours fulfillment for TCF Instructor Certification. \nCourse Objectives: \n1) Learn Basic Moves & Short Form\, Optional Side Support\, Walker & Seated versions.\n2) Teach Basic Moves and Short Form for all versions\n3) Describe TCF’s rationale\, biomechanics & functional benefits\n4) Lead Centering\, Breathing and Posture Awareness exercises\n5) Apply Sequence for introducing Mind/body Skills \nAudience: Anyone interested in learning the program for personal use\, or wanting to teach this program. Physical and occupational therapists\, PTAs\, COTAs\, nurses\, activity directors\, recreational and fitness professionals\, tai chi and other martial arts Instructors\, acupuncturists and integrative health practitioners. \nThe Tai Chi Fundamentals® Adapted Program includes instruction in three versions: Standing with Optional Side Support\, Walker Support and Seated.  An\, accessible\, adaptable program for learning tai chi\, it is suitable for individuals with a wide range of abilities and can be modified to accommodate individual needs and interests. \nProgram Elements: All movements are taught in a simple-to-complex sequence for easy learning and have been modified for practice with optional side support\, walker support and seated. All 3 versions include: \n\nBasic Moves: a series of exercises that trains postural alignment\, body mechanics and energetic components of tai chi. Designed as building blocks for learning tai chi\, they are taught in a simple-to-complex progression with discrete\, measurable increments in difficulty.\nTai Chi Fundamentals Short Form: a flowing sequence of tai chi movements based in Yang Style tai chi and adapted from the original Tai Chi Fundamentals® Form.\nMind/Body Skills Training: integrated into both Basic Moves and Short Form instruction\, fosters attention and focus\, a calm observant state of mind\, awareness of posture and breathing and physical relaxation. DESCRIPTION:Instructor Patricia Culotti.\nWPTA CEU-Approved for 3 Contact hours.\nPrerequisites: Previous experience in Tai Chi Fundamentals®  or Yang Style Cheng Man-Ch’ing Lineage. \nIntensive Description:  If you already attended a 6-hour Certification Preparation intensive and need further review\, this 3-hour intensive can be structured for your needs.  You can also take this intensive twice to fulfill the 6-hour minimum intensive requirement for TCF Certification.  Ideal for Tai Chi Fundamentals® (TCF) certification preparation and for keeping certification current in both the TCF Adapted Program and Original TCF Program. Includes teaching practicums\, techniques for using TCF with specific populations\, advanced training in sensing qi and introduction to Energize exercises. \nThe course includes presentations by certified instructors on program applications in group wellness settings as well as therapeutic assessment and intervention tools. This course qualifies as partial contact hours fulfillment for TCF Instructor Certification Level Three. \nThe Tai Chi Fundamentals® Program (TCF) provides gateway  to a Yang Style lineage tai chi form\, and  a bridge between tai chi practice and the medical model. The first program of its kind\, it provides a clear\, systematic approach for mastering tai chi basics that builds from simple to complex patterns of movement. Integrates mind/body components of tai chi with clinical overview\, movement analysis\, therapeutic & functional applications. \n\n\nProgram Elements: movements are taught in a motor development progression and can be modified for use with walkers and wheelchairs.
